Nursing assistants, also called nursing aides, provide basic care for hospital patients and long-term care facility residents. Nursing assistants also assist patients with the activities of daily life, like bathing, eating, dressing, and using the toilet. Nursing assistants measure patients’ vital signs and record any health concerns that they then relay to nurses.

Communication skills, compassion, patience, and physical stamina are all important qualities for people who choose to work in nursing assistant jobs.
