DUTIES: The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for the ongoing evaluation and management of patient care systems within peri-operative services on a daily basis. Position shared with multiple units - ASU, PACU, PST and Endoscopy/pain management. Collaborates with the Nurse Manager to ensure efficient patient through-put, appropriate staffing and the integration of nursing services with clinical care at the bedside. The incumbent maintains a safe, therapeutic environment within which professional patient care can be efficiently delivered. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess current RN licensure from NYS. Bachelors Degree in Nursing required. Flexible hours PACU/Endoscopy experience preferred. Certification in area of expertise (AORN, CPAN, CAPA, etc.) preferred. At least 3-5 years experience in specified area. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Leadership skills and/or experience required. Knowledge and ability to operate all medical equipment found within the Peri-Operative Environment. Position requires standing on feet for long periods of time interspersed with sitting at desk to complete paperwork. Ability to bend, stretch, reach, handle/finger delicate objects. Excellent verbal and auditory skills required for communicating clearly and effectively with patients, physicians, families, care team members, other hospital departments. Manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Near visual acuity required for preparing and reading reports/papers. Ability to cope with physical and emotional stress.
