Job Summary : The Phlebotomist is responsible for assisting in the procurement and processing of biological specimens from patients for analysis in the Laboratory and to perform supportive tasks in the maintenance of related records and facilities. The phlebotomist at the practice is responsible to collect specimens. The phlebotomist will support the providers by preparing microscopic slides for biopsy by the providers. The phlebotomist works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines and accepts direction from supervisory and technical staff. This phlebotomist will perform testing on point of care devices, will complete daily controls on all devices, and maintain daily temperature logs. The phlebotomist will complete CAP studies as they are due to maintain our lab's accreditation and to maintain our CLIA license. The phlebotomist will coordinate all activities in the lab and also be responsible in making sure the Rheumatology lab is Joint Commission ready. The phlebotomist will support the practice by having the ability to teach new staff and students the skill of phlebotomy. The position also involves effective communication and interpersonal skills. Requirements: High School diploma. 3 or more years of phlebotomy and computer experience necessary. Exceptional customer service required. Experience with lead and or independent work is preferred. Phlebotomy Certification is required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification upon hire or within 90 days of employment. Skills: Basic computer knowledge.
