JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS Reports to : Director, Behavioral Health Job Summary : To assess, plan, implement the nursing care to meet the patients' needs, by following the appropriate policy and procedures of the assigned department. To render behavioral nursing care to the patients on the behavioral health unit. Education : Position requires an associate's degree (A.A) or diploma program. Registration/Certification/Licensure : Registered Nurse Certification; State Licensure Experience : Position requires minimum of one year hospital experience, would prefer Psych experience. Other Requirements : Physically able to place patient in therapeutic hold/apply mechanical restraints to potentially combative/acting out individuals. Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements. FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Populations Served/Patient Care Responsibilities Teens (13-17 years) Adult (18-64 years) Geri (65 and up) TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Performs and documents delivery of nursing care via the nursing process: assessment, problem identification, planning, nursing interventions, and evaluation. Consults with providers or other clinicians as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely and in a timely manner in the appropriated format and on appropriate paper forms, if necessary. Nursing care documentation includes: patient history, assessment, conditions, treatments, response to treatments, pain management, assessment of changes and notification of and response by appropriate clinicians. Practices within nursing standards of practice and follows CalvertHealth policies and procedures. Adheres to policies and procedures for medication administration and documentation. Uses proper aseptic/sterile technique and infection control practices according to accepted standards of practice. Utilizes a multi disciplinary approach to determining and executing the most effective plan of care. Performs duties according to established standards for population served. Assesses, plans and implements individualized patient/family education on nursing care provided, identified home care needs, medication administration needs, and discharge instructions. Delegates authority and responsibility effectively to provide safe patient care.
