SUMMARY: The Kitchen Program Assistant is responsible for preparing nutritionally balanced meals for the clients of My Sister's Place Women's Center (MSPWC) and perform duties of Program Assistant when needed. JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Kitchen Responsibilities: Prepare meals for the clients Clean and sanitize the kitchen, ensure trash is pulled and removed? Take and record the temperatures of the refrigerator and freezer at appropriate intervals? Receive and put away food and kitchen supply donations? Maintain records and statistics of donations and kitchen supplies? Maintain stocking and inventory of the storage rooms and kitchen supplies.? Provide kitchen supply inventories to the Operations Manager upon request? Maintains all kitchen equipment daily including grease recovery? Work with staff and volunteers in the preparation of the meals. Security Responsibilities: Conduct periodic security checks throughout the building.? Report critical incidents and security issues immediately to the Manager on Duty? Report unusual activity to Operations Manager or Manager on Duty? Respond to emergency situations appropriately and in a professional manner? Assists with the coordination and accepting of donations (including reporting, logging and organizing them as needed).? Work with Program Assistants and Management team to take appropriate action when clients violate rules in accordance with MSPWC policies and procedures.? Assist in daily housekeeping maintenance in kitchen and dining area per the standard cleaning procedures Assist with laundry and upkeep of the building as needed? Ensure residents are aware of their rights and the grievance process. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent. Food Service Manager Education and Serve Safe Certification is preferred. Must receive Serve Safe Certification within 6 months. Must be certified in CPR within six months of employment and trained in First Aid within one year. Must complete other required training. Must be physically capable or moving throughout the building and grounds including stairs, and lift 50 pounds. Must be able to stand 90% of the shift. Must be able to work flexible schedule including weekend and holidays. A valid driver's license with no more than 3 points preferred. One year of food preparation experience in an institution dietary department or one year dietary experience or dietary certificate and knowledgeable of Health Department codes/standards. Experience working with poor or homeless preferred. Security experience preferred. Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with supervisor, staff, volunteers and clients. Ability to maintain order and de-escalate situations with clients. Ability to complete logs and other documentation. SKILLS / COMPETENCIES: Provide services to clients in a dignified and respectful manner. Contributes to the spirit of hospitality and welcoming to clients, volunteers, and visitors through their personal actions. Sets a positive example of courteous and concerned behavior towards others. Assist with the enforcement of MSPWC policy and procedures, including the implementation and execution of the MSPWC Operations Manual. Assist with the orientation of clients and/or volunteers. Provide guidance and support by being observant and attentive to both positive and negative behavior and reporting activities to supervisor (as needed)?Provide general assistance to clients and assist in various aspects of delivery of services including assisting in the operation of meals, laundry, and shower rooms as needed.
