Title : Experienced Wireless Senior Network Engineer
Shift : Full-Time, Days
This position will be located in the IT Infrastructure Department at The Christ Hospital Central Business Office, 237 William Howard Taft Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.
Job Overview : The Senior Wireless Network Engineer is the third tier of support personnel responsible for the design, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of the Wi-Fi network. This individual will respond to and resolve any network related issues in a timely manner. They are also responsible for mentoring personnel and ensuring all maintenance and support is being performed adequately by all engineers and analysts. They will report all status and health of the network to the Manger, Network Technology Services on a regular basis.
The Senior Wireless Network Engineer may perform the following duties :
Designs, deploys, configures, and operates new or existing WLAN infrastructure device(s) and supporting software across the enterprise. Includes all LANs, WANs, wireless networks, servers, routers, switches, UPS’s, etc. Ensures proper network connectivity of all sites, servers, workstations, telephone equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
Troubleshoots advanced network related problem areas and issues as needed to resolve operational issues and restore/optimize services.
Proactively manage standards, topology documentation, configuration files, performance baselines, and capacity planning roadmaps for network infrastructure.
Monitors network performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future. Recommends changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
Creates diagrams and supporting documentation for all sites and services. These documents are to be reviewed by a Senior Network Engineer.
Participate in Change Management regularly; to include being an active member of the Change Advisory Board (CAB).
Maintain knowledge of networking related topics, including emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory/compliance related concerns.
Participates in managing all network security solutions.
Mentor mid and lower level Engineers and Analysts to provide hands-on training and find opportunities to foster team growth.
Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Network Technology Services.
Education : Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience.
License & Certification :
CWNE or working towards CWNE required
Cisco CCNP/CCDP/CCVP or other Cisco Professional-level certifications are preferred. CCIE a bonus.
Experience with network management tools such as Sniffers (Wireshark), SolarWinds Orion, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, 7signal, and Live Action.
Experience : 3 to 5 year’s minimum experience in the multi-site network environment.
Required Skills & Knowledge :
Should present well-defined leadership qualities; the ability to be tactful, exercise magnanimity amongst the team and practice openness to other’s ideas and culture.
Possess good written and verbal skills needed to present to all demographics at the hospital, and across all mediums.
Ability to design repeatable, reliable, and scalable network architectures with fault tolerance, performance tuning, monitoring systems, statistics/metrics collection, and disaster recovery.
Multiple successful implementations of (including the ability to design, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot) Cisco WLAN access points and controllers, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco CMX, and Cisco ISE.
Expert level knowledge of Cisco WLAN topologies, including centralized, FlexConnect, autonomous, and auto-anchor guest.
Advanced Wi-Fi troubleshooting including over-the-air packet capture, decryption, client roaming analysis, and spectral analysis.
WLAN site survey and design using Ekahau Site Survey software.
Expert level knowledge of 802.11, transport protocols, routing protocols, and security/authentication protocols at all layers of the OSI model
Must have knowledge networking features and protocols such as spanning tree, ARP, CDP, EIGRP, OSPF, VPLS, DMVPN, Etherchannel, 802.1Q trunking, QoS, Multicast, 802.11, CAPWAP, 802.1X, EAP, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS+, SNMP.
