SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the overall operations of nursing homes and assisted living facilities by providing direction, supervision, and support to the Administrators. Accountable for ensuring the financial success of the businesses and achieving the highest level of care and services possible for the residents. DUTIES PERFORMED: * Review policies and procedures of each facility to assure quality services are provided to meet residents’ needs in nursing, nutrition, rehabilitation, social, and environmental. * Review and approve each facility’s annual operating budget and capital expenditure plan as required by corporate policy. Provides direction and support to the facility administrators in achieving contribution margin at or above budget and capital expenditures at or below budget. If facilities are not at budget making sure reductions are made as necessary. * Assure that each facility maintains adequate quantities of qualified staff to delivery services 24 hours a day in each discipline as established by acuity-based staffing, effective recruitment and retention, initial orientation, and ongoing in-service training. * By the fourth Monday or as needed, submit a written summary report for the month evaluating each facility’s financial performance and operational issues to COO. * Review quarterly marketing plans with administrators and admission/marketing directors to assure that services meet the needs of the local community and that both the census and payor mix targets are as budgeted. * Assure that each facility maintains substantial compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations to assure licensure, Medicaid/Medicare certification, and/or JCAHO accreditation as applicable to attain the highest external recognition for care and services rendered to the facility. * Meet with facility administrators and, as appropriate, operations staff on a quarterly basis to review operations, accomplishments, policy update, and objectives. * Holding the administrators accountable for following policies and procedures we have in place. * Assure that all reasonable requests from corporate staff for reports, facility visits, and other interactions are completed in a timely and professional manner. * Attend and participate in professional workshops/seminars to keep abreast of current changes in the health care field as well as to maintain professional status. * Complete a 90-day probationary and annual performance evaluation of each administrator. * Execute an action plan to address State survey readiness at each facility prior to their annual survey. * Direct administrators to maintain medical staff by recruiting physicians, by providing support services, and by enforcing policies and procedures. * Maintain building and equipment by planning and controlling space allocations, building additions, and major equipment acquisitions; develop maintenance programs. * Represent the health care facility by promoting programs, contributing to community programs and groups, and informing and responding to news media. * Explore new business opportunities and discuss with board members. * Monitor cost of operations in terms of compliance with budget. * Travel and overnight stays required on a weekly basis. * Oversee environmental standards to maintain buildings, grounds, fixtures, and moveable equipment in a high standard of repair and maintenance. * Insure the orientations we have in place are appropriate and updated as needed. * Fill is as needed as the licensed administrator in facilities. * Work with corporate nursing staff to maximize stars ratings, quality add on points, case mix, resident satisfaction, and employee satisfaction. * Meet with Board of Directors as needed to give updates on facilities operations * Guide the regional team to achieve their goals. * Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: * Must have a combination of experience, education, or training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. * Must have at least 5 years of experience as a facility administrator with a proven record of successfully directing the overall operations of facility. * Must be a licensed administrator in Ohio.
