Job Description

Monday-Friday daylight position.

Chambersburg Hospital Sterile Processing Department provides services in processing and/or sterile instruments and equipment for use throughout the hospital including, but not limited to:
-8 OR Suites daily
-35-45 OR cases daily
-Instruments and equipment use for orthopedics, general, vascular, neurology, ENT, plastics, OB/GYN, urology, and Advanced Robotic Surgeries (Da Vinci SI Surgical System)

-Must have 5 years hospital experience working in Sterile Processing
-Ideal candidate will have previous management experience in Sterile Processing or other discipline.
-Previous Surgical Technician experience is a plus
-Must have hands-on and in-depth knowledge of sterile processing
-Must have ability to maintain flow of sterile processing department and audit work of staff
-Must have ability to educate staff in best practices and work side-by-side with Sterile Processing Technicians


Education: High School Diploma required. Bachelor degree preferred. Informal or Continuing Education:  Evidence of participation in educational programs to update and maintain knowledge and clinical skills.

Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required.    Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sterile Processing required.  Computer literate required with proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred; organizational, interpersonal, analytical and time management skills are essential.

Certifications/Licensure: Certified by Certification Board for Sterile Processing Distribution (CBSPD) as a SPD Technician or certified by International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician within 24 months of hire required. Certified by CBSPD in Sterile Processing Management or certified by IAHCSMM as a Certified Healthcare Leader within 36 months of hire required.
