Education: Minimum: High School graduate
Preferred: Medical terminology course.
Minimum: The following technical skills are required: above average spelling., typing skills, computer knowledge, the ability to organize work and meet realistic work load.
Preferred: Previous experience in clerical or receptionist position required, customer relations, hospital experience or satisfactory completion of training program preferred.
Experience with coding procedures is desired, but not required. Appropriate course must be completed. CPR course desired, but not required. Appropriate course to be completed within 1 year of date of hire..
The Medical Secretary's responsibilities are to perform clerical and receptionist duties. Performs assembly and routine maintenance of medical records within EMR. Performs various clerical/support functions in conjunction with the completion and processing of all types of records including electronic filing and routine release of information requests. And perform all other tasks as assigned. The Medical Secretary is responsible to log patient demographic information into EMR per designated workflow and obtain necessary treatment, billing and compliance signatures. Staff also responsible to conduct aspects of pre-visit planning and conductive work in accordance with practice workflow and goals as a patient centered medical home. Introduces new patients to the medical home model. Encourages and informs patients how to access their care team during and after office hours. Attend team huddles.
