Registrar

We are seeking a Full Time Registrar at Central Vermont Medical Center in the Emergency Department.  If you want to be part of a team that focuses on helping patients while providing high quality customer service, this may be the job for you!

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Registrar is responsible for a variety of functions related to patient registration including registration, scheduling, charge entry and telecommunications.
  • Receive hourly rate and Shift Differentials based on hours worked.
Position Requirements/Specifics:
  • One year experience in office procedures preferred, six to twelve months prior medical experience preferred, either as a medical transcriptionist or related medical field.
  • Associates degree in administrative support management preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of lab and medical terminology required.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in all patient/family member interactions in a professional, courteous and timely manner according to hospital policy.
  • Protects patients’ rights to privacy and confidentiality, and follow HIPAA guidelines
  • Must have knowledge of needs for particular tests and ability to recognize any complications that might arise from inaccurately worded tests.
  • Obtain and maintain NAHAM certification requirement.
  • Prepares patient charts and/or admission forms, obtains signatures and witnesses documents as required.
  • Ensures that all necessary paperwork is completed for all admissions with a high level of accuracy, including consent forms – both for insurance and self-pay customers.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of complex insurance plans.
  • Pre-register patients.
  • Coordinates bed assignments per procedure, including bedside registration when needed.
  • Accept patient payments and provide appropriate receipts per hospital policy.
  • Supports and assists in all areas of Patient Financial Services Department as needed.  This includes but is not limited to, coverage of other positions, special projects, and other duties as directed.
