Job Description

PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITION

The primary source of your job position is to prepare, season and cook the evening meal according to the menus for the residents of Care Corner and employees. This shall be done with our established policies and procedures and may be directed by the Administrator and Owner of Care Corner as to assure that theĀ· highest degree of quality resident care can be administered at all times. The immediate supervision is the administrator.

MAJOR DUTIES-AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Review menus to determine type and quantities of food to be served for evening meal.
Plans cooking schedule so that food will be prepared and ready at specified times.
Gathers all necessary food supplies to complete meal.
Prepares and does washing, trimming, cooking, and seasoning of food items.
Serves meal on schedule.
Inspects foods and meats in storage and directs and participates in the sanitary maintenance of storage rooms and units, stoves, working tables, and other equipment to spot indications of the presence of unsanitary conditions.
If menu is changed, a note on the menu should be indicated and initiated.
Wash, rinse and sterilize all dishes and utensils.
Clean dining room tables after each meal.
Wash off all appliances used.
Wipe up all spills and stains.
Sore and date all food properly and within health inspection rules.
Empty trash as needed.
Keep all storage containers and areas clean.
Keep refriger-ators and freezers clean inside and outside and on the top.
Responsible for only allowing only authorized personnel into kitchen area.
Keep entrance stairs and floors clean.
Keep walls in kitchen area clean.
Give medications as required.
Answer phone when the Administrator is not available or after four rings. Take messages and give to appropriate person.
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: None required. On-the-job orientation provided.
Education: Must be able to read and write and speak English language.
Specific requirements:
Must possess a sincere desire to serve the ill, aged, and infirmed.
Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
Be 18 years old or legally able to work.
Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
