Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Current R.N. licensure by State Board of Nursing
Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty preferred
Experience with administrative and supervisory techniques
Available to work holidays and weekends as schedule requires
Good physical health condition and pass a physical examination
Possess good people skills with the ability to work directly with residents, family, doctors and staff
Ability to verbalize and present necessary information and ideas to other staff, essential to supervisory duties
Ability to supervise and instruct nursing personnel and to direct nursing activities Knowledge of nursing facility rules and regulations and the discipline to work in accordance with accepted nursing and medical standards
Some clerical knowledge necessary to prepare and review records and charts Enjoys performing services that benefit and help people

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to filmes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work is inside (may be required to go outside occasionally).
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDS:
Medical equipment, resident charts, care plans, records and reports, work schedules, and fax machines
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.:
* Direct nursing service activities and nursing staff.
* Participate in resident care plans.
* Assign duties to professional and ancillary nursing personnel based on residents needs, available staff and unit needs.
* Supervise and evaluate work performance in-terms of resident care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
* Provide nursing care for residents and cooperate with other members of the medical care team.
* Identify nursing service problems and assists in their solutions.
* Ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed and treatment is administered in accordance with physicians instructions.
* Maintain a safe environment for residents.
* Operate and supervise operation of specified equipment assigned to the unit and provide assistance and guidance of nursing team as required.
* Accompany physician on rounds to answer questions, receive instructions, and note residents care requirements.
* Render professional nursing care and instruct residents and members of their families in techniques and methods of home care after discharge.
* Prepare and maintain residents clinical records, including nursing and medical treatments and related services provided by nursing personnel.
* Investigate and report complaints or unusual occurrences to appropriate persons.
* Ensure established inventory standards for medicines, solutions, supplies and equipment.
* Ensure accountability for narcotics.
* Assist with orientation for new personnel to ob requirements, equipment, and unit personnel.
* Instruct unit personnel concerning new nursing care techniques, procedures, and equipment.
* Evaluate individual work performance through observation, spot-checking work completed, and conferences.
* Promote staff development.
* Attend meetings of supervisory and administrative staff to discuss unit operation and staff training needs and to formulate programs to improve these areas.
* Interpret nursing home policies and regulations to staff members, residents, families, and visitors, and ensure conformance.
* Perform duties of medication nurse and CNA as needed or determined by department supervisor.
* Participate in the quality assurance program.
* Attend in-service education classes as required and obtain required number of hours per year.
* Maintain infection control standards by use of universal precautions.
* The associate is authorized to have unlimited access to resident health information as needed to provide treatment, for billing purposes, or for the purpose of healthcare operations.
