Job Description

ROLE OVERVIEW: The Compliance Specialist works under the supervision of the Compliance Program Supervisor and the Vice President of Compliance. This position is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the annual compliance program, including but not limited to, compliance monitoring auditing, tracking and execution of the program's administrative tasks and other requirements and drafting and issuing reports for applicable agencies and internal departments. S/he will also provide support in driving efficiencies as they relate to the compliance program, the compliance-related assessment, monitoring and mitigation of risk, compliance incident and issue tracking, resolution and reporting, as well as, compliance program coordination, training and awareness initiatives. The individual will be responsible for monitoring any legal and regulatory developments that may impact the organization. The Compliance Specialist works collaboratively with all internal and external customers and recognizes that although the Compliance Department is responsible for the monitoring, oversight and enforcement of regulatory requirements, a customer centric focus is essential. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. Knowledge of health care compliance regulations and overall applicability of policies and procedures is preferred but not required. SKILLS REQUIRED:  Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including the use of proper grammar, use of tact and discretion in all communications. Self-Starter. Takes the initiative to ensure department needs are met. Strong organizational skills. Punctuality and effective time management skills. Excellent presentation skills, including presenting complex issues to audiences with varying levels of competency. Basic computer hardware and software literacy, including MS Office products (including, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), various internet browsers and other computer-based applications. Strong analytical, reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. Must be able to think independently and collaboratively. High service level with internal and external customers. Resourceful. Applies expertise to get results, seeks out different points of view to determine the best solutions and meets deliverables with quality, efficiency and within given deadlines. Ability to consistently prioritize work based on ever-changing business needs and deadlines. Effectively monitors and communicates progress toward departmental and personal objectives. Confidentiality of all sensitive information and reported issues. Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Attention to detail. Knowledge of health care compliance standards is desirable.
