Job Description

MI Transportation is a fleet of chair cars and mini-vans that ensure the comfortable and safe transport of our residents and program participants by drivers specially trained to work with those with mobility impairments. We provide door-to-door transport both to and from our two adult day health programs.

CURRENT OPENING
Per Diem Driver

6:45AM-5:00PM primarily weekends with some occasional weekday shifts
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid MA license, clean driving record
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of driving experience.
  • Previous experience working with the older population
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist passengers from place of residence to vehicle.  This could include entering single homes, multi-family dwellings, or group home settings
  • Assists physically and/or cognitively disabled passengers into and out of vehicle at various stops.
  • Secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
  • Pick-ups and deliveries of items for the various companies.
  • Operates radio or similar device to communicate with base station or other vehicles to report disruption of service.
  • Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricant, and accessories.
  • Keeps records of trips and behavior of passengers.
  • Assist transportation coordinator in data collection with respect to passengers and vehicles.
  • Abide by the Standards of Conduct which is the basis for the Organizational Integrity Program.
  • Compliance with Health Information privacy (HIPPA) related laws and regulations.
