The Radiology Assistant/Fluoroscopy Technologist provides medical images/exams that are complete; assures that documentation is completed; assures that exams that require consent is acquired; administers contrast agents; functions as a resource for staff and physicians; assures that reporting and record keeping is completed; trains staff in accordance with the needs of the exams performed; advises Manager and/or Medical Director of significant and unexpected variances; monitors by evaluating, initiating and participating in restructuring of current and new procedures; provides a method of measuring the quality and appropriateness of patient care; maintains documentation of Continuing Medical Education (CME) of Radiologists and staff and assists in ordering of specialty supply items and purchases of capital expenditures.

Provides medical images/exams that are complete and of the highest quality to ensure they meet department standards..
Assures that documentation is completed according to standard operating procedure so that the needs of the radiology physician are met, i.e., appropriate reason for exam.
Assures that exams that require consent is acquired. Ensures inpatients are properly identified by armband verification and outpatients via verbal name and birth date verification.
Functions as a resource for staff and physicians regarding procedures and techniques.
Trains staff in accordance with the needs of the exams performed.
Advises Manager and/or Medical Director of significant and unexpected variances.
Monitors services by evaluating, initiating and participating in restructuring of current and new procedures.
Provides a method of measuring the quality and appropriateness of patient care and reports to the Radiology Committee regarding progress.
Maintains documentation of Continuing Medical Education (CME) of Radiologists and staff according to standard operating procedures.
Assists the Manager in ordering of specialty supply items and purchases of capital expenditures.
Prepares and administers IV and oral contrast under the direction of a Radiologist according to standard operating procedure.
Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedures.
Maintains all licensure, certification or registration requirements specific to the position.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Essential Job Functions:
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Current valid certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists as Radiographers (ARRTR).
• Five (5) years of experience as a Registered Radiological Technologist.
• Successful completion of the fluoroscopy training by the Radiologic Health Branch of the Department of Health Services of the State of North Dakota.
• Current valid permit by the State Board of Medical Examiners.
