Job Description

  • Position Overview
    • To contribute to the flow within the HIM Department by assuring each inpatient record is optimally coded, attested to, billed and paid with the proper DRG/APC. Oversee clinical documentation improvement, working with physicians, care management and nursing. Customers served include HIM Department, Finance, Physicians, and Third Party Payors, Quality Management, Nursing, Reservation/Registration, Regulatory Agencies, Information Services and other health care facilitators.
  • Position Requirements
    • Education/Experience
      • Minimum Required:
        • Associate's Degree in HIT.
        • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working knowledge of DRG's, APC's, hospital coding, information systems, databases to include three years coding experience.
      • Preferred:
        • Bachelor's Degree in HIT.
        • Five (5) years of supervisory experience. Experience with regulatory agencies and third party payers.
        • Experience with electronic medical record.

    • License/Certification
      • Minimum Required:
        • RHIT certification
      • Preferred:
        • RHIA certification
