Under supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Unit Coordinator performs a variety of general receptionist, secretarial and clerical duties on the assigned patient care unit. Demonstrates a welcoming and friendly attitude to all customers including patients, families, visitors, staff and physicians. Facilitates the smooth, efficient operation of the patient care unit. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Demonstrates interventions appropriate to the age of patients.
A level of knowledge acquired through completion of a general high school diploma program or equivalent. Previous experience as a Unit Secretary preferred; demonstrated competence in medical terminology and computer skills.
