Provides administrative support to the practice primarily through verification of patient insurance benefits prior to office visits and procedures, including requirements related to prior authorizations and/or referrals as well as determining patient financial responsibility. Acts as a liaison to other physician practices to obtain referrals prior to patient arrival, and works directly with patients to obtain correct demographics.
Prepares pre-visit summary and follows pre-processing procedure for both EMR and Practice Management System.
Can be requested to assist with any normal Medical Receptionist work throughout the practice, including but not limited to:
Education and Training:
- Answering telephones
- Returning patient calls
- Scheduling appointments
- Working displaced appointment queues
High School Diploma or equivalency required.
Previous office experience required; physician practice preferred.
Knowledge of insurance, medical billing and medical terminology strongly preferred
