This unit is a 16 bed unit that provides acute care to post-operative and medical interdisciplinary care for adults and general pediatric patients. Conditions and diagnoses most frequently cared for but not limited to include: Women with reproductive system conditions and surgeries, breast surgeries, miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy, and hyperemesis. Patients with: gall bladder conditions (Cholecystitis, cholelithiasis) and/or surgery: Cholecystectomy, thyroid, ear/nose/throat, appendectomy, hernia repair. Infants and children with: asthma exacerbation, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, hyperbilirubinemia, dehydration, and post-operative care.
Under supervision of the RN, serves as an integral member of the health care team by performing clerical and patient care assignments as delegated and permitted by law and regulatory bodies and institutional policies and procedures. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned area.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Registration/Certification or License Required:
Current BLS for the Health Care Provider (or completed within 60 days of hire).
Certified Nurses Aide Certificate (CNA), EMT (ED), Anatomy and Physiology course.
Previous patient care experience, knowledge of medical terminology, computer literacy, bilingual.
Lift over 50 lbs.
Carry 80 lbs. a distance of 30 feet.
Push/pull > 200 lbs. (ie. Patients on bed, stretcher).
Lateral transfer or max assist sit to stand transfer.
Occasional twisting, squatting, kneeling.
Frequent standing, walking.
Frequent bending, reaching.
Continuous talking, hearing.
Proficient in English, verbal and written communication skills.
