To administer responsibility for both the development and coordination of multiphase, multidisciplinary stroke centers for each of the Midlands Affiliate hospitals, achieving the appropriate level of certification for the respective hospital. Ensures the necessary infrastructure and organization exists to triage and treat patients with stroke rapidly and efficiently. Collaborates with the manager of the Upstate Affiliate Stroke Center to ensure continuity of care between all stroke centers.

Develops and implements functions of the stroke teams across the Midlands Affiliate hospitals.
Manages data collection, outcomes and quality improvement systems for the stroke centers and the neuroscience team.
Standardizes the formation and use of written care protocols.
Ensures the timeliness of diagnostics and interventions.
Assures appropriate discharge planning.
Facilitates the incorporation of the emergency departments as key elements of the respective stroke centers.
Collaborates with nurse managers to ensure proper staffing, training and operation of the stroke units.
Guides the integration of community emergency medical services with the stroke centers.
Develops network with other hospitals to facilitate use of telestroke systems and stroke transfers.
Approves educational programs for professional, nursing and allied health staff.
Coordinates educational programs for public education aimed at prevention and recognition of stroke, the availability of acute treatment and the need for immediate intervention for stroke.
Education: M.S. degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing program that is approved by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing required.
Experience: Five (5) years of Acute care experience required.
Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides recommendations but does not make the final decision in determining salary increases. Is fully accountable for final decision in assigning work activities, coaching/counseling, mentorship, delivery of corrective action, evaluating performance, approving time off, hiring, promotions/reclassification, scheduling work hours, terminations, and training.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Computer literacy, strong verbal and written communication, assertiveness, flexibility, attention to detail, timely follow-up, organization, diplomacy and negotiation. Experience in marketing, development, implementation and management of a clinical program. Care of stroke patients
