The Emergency Department Technician is responsible to assist the RN in the efficient operation of the department. The ED Tech. will be under the direct supervision of the RN. He/she will assist in providing care to meet the needs of the patient and department. Duties will include obtaining and documenting a full set of vital signs, assisting with transportation needs, collecting urine, sputum, and stool specimens, answering call lights, assisting with organizing supplies, restocking rooms, cleaning and changing linen on stretchers, insertion of saline locks, drawing blood, splinting of extremities, assisting during a code blue, cleaning and dressing minor wounds, and applying ice to affected areas. The ED Tech may perform other duties, as assigned by the RN and within their scope of practice.
High School Graduate.
EMS Certification Course or EMS Degree Program (preferred)
Will give consideration to LNA program completion
2 or more years of EMS experience preferred.
Current Healthcare CPR Certification required
Valid National Registry-AEMT Certification & VT AEMT License preferred
Will give consideration to EMT-B, LNA licenses
PALS or PEPP preferred
PHTLS or BTLS or TNCC preferred
Post hire requirement: Successful Completion of BMH ED Tech Orientation within 6 months from date of hire.
