Performs technical aspects of radiography that ultimately lead to completed radiographic procedures with complete clinical history. Operates radiological equipment in a filmless environment, administering medical x-rays on injured and/or sick patients as directed by physicians following accepted procedures and policies. Checks the technical aspects of radiographs to determine the exactness of position and technique, assists radiologists as needed, prepares study for interpretation, and provides quality patient care.
A. Education: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) within one year of date of hire or transfer to position and certified by the state of Texas, Certified Medical Technologist (CMT). Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
B. Training and Experience: Hospital experience preferred but not required.
II. Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
A. Occasionally required to lift and position patients for procedures.
B. Possible exposure to infectious diseases and radiation.
