Job Description

General Food Service Worker:

§  Operate the cash register in adherence with all cash policies

§  Ensure safe food handling and sanitation practices are used at all times in accordance with Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, state, and federal standards

§  Greet customers verbally and provide assistance to customers and co-workers as required within the scope of authority

§  Assist in the care and maintenance of department work areas, equipment, and supplies as directed

§  Report defective equipment/supplies, cashiering problems, and any other unusual conditions to supervisor

§  Ensure all equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to department policies and procedures

§  Stock the condiments table, beverage station, tray area, and silverware before each meal period

§  Check expiration dates on all retail items that are stored and for sale; any item that is out of date must be disposed of prior to opening for service and tracked on the waste log

§  Set up work stations with cooked food and proper utensils prior to opening

§  Ensure that hot wells have water and all heating lamps are turned on

§  Follow and sign off on daily and weekly cleaning schedules

§  Work as a part of the team to continuously improve work quality

§  Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services

§  Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary

Education and Experience

Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Prior Food Service and Cashier experience is preferred.
