Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Practice Manager and Chief of Ophthalmology. Possesses knowledge and skills in history taking, patient services, instrument maintenance, clinical optics, basic ocular motility, visual fields, intermediate tonometry, OCT, contact lenses, ocular pharmacology and photography. Responsible for performing necessary testing prior to patient's encounter with the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist; assist in minor surgical and laser procedures; perform specialties adjunctive testing, perform refractions and assist in other office responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. 1+ years prior experience as Ophthalmic Technician. Calibrate and make minor repairs to equipment and machinery, to clean, test and maintain equipment. Strength and endurance to work continuously for 4-5 hours at a time.[cha010112]
