The Community Surgery Center Out-Patient Unit is an embodied staff of nurses who shall render professional nursing care to patients of all ages. The RN facilitates all aspects of the surgical patient's care, which includes pre-operative interviews and testing, result retrieval, the anesthesia interview process, and post-anesthesia and discharge care. Provides pre-operative patient and family education to the surgical population. By utilizing appropriate nursing knowledge, judgments and skills the Registered Nurse shall assume responsibilities such as for the preparation, administration, surveillance, maintenance and documentation of peripheral IV therapy to include implanted venous access devices as ordered by the physician for the purpose of therapeutic diagnostic treatment to meet the desired patient outcome. This is done in support of the medical staff and pursuant to objectives and policies of the hospital. They collaborate with other interdisciplinary services. Provides direction to the operational assistant, nurse assistant, nursing students, and other nursing personnel.
· Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
· 1-2 years Critical Care, Recovery experience preferred.
· Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR).
· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required within 6 months from starting date.
