  • Position Summary

This position plans and oversees the development, implementation, operation, and daily management of assigned programs. Additionally, the incumbent plans and oversees processes that ensure program goals are measured, analyzed, evaluated, reported, and met. The position supports the operational aspects of assigned program, including development of program materials and tools. The role is also accountable for implementing program work plan(s) and assuring the completion of day to day activities. May manage 3 or more small programs, 2 medium or one large program. The role mentors, oversees and directs other program resources and is accountable for cultivating a culture of engagement.

The Program Manager of Surgical Services will manage the quality work of the service line including: overseeing service line efforts to utilize best practices to enhance recover of surgical patients in a standardized fashion; implementing a tracking and measuring system for transfers to determine and measure appropriateness as well as following up with providers to provide education when inappropriate; analyzing NSQIP results and developing and implementing action plans based on those results; analyzing referral data to develop an outreach plan; supporting the development of educational guides for the medical and lay communities that describe how to access surgical care for the broad range of specific conditions managed by general surgery. The program manager will also support the Maine Medical Center General Surgery program by: developing and maintaining a dashboard to guide quality projects; preparing cases for monthly quality meetings; managing performance improvement projects. This position will include administrative support to workteams, including scheduling, recording actions, and managing workplans.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Bachelor's Degree in health care or related field preferred; Master's Degree preferred
    • 2+ years of program management or related work experience
    • Demonstrated experience with the management of surgical patients as evidenced by 3+ years of health experience in an operating room and/or post-operative surgical unit
    • Valid state of Maine RN license
