Job Description

Maintains the cancer registry for the hospital's cancer program in compliance with state laws and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associate's degree in Allied Health field with; Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology
  • 3-5 years experience; Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications required
  • Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) or, eligible within 1 year of hire

Major Responsibilities

  • Presents to the Cancer Committee and updates the Reportable-by-Agreement list annually.
  • Coordinates the completion of the Commission on Cancer; Survey Application Record (SAR) annually.
  • Coordinates the completion of the Cancer Program annual report.
  • Ensures compliance to the American College of Surgeons standards for an approved cancer program.
  • Coordinates; follows and completes the Special Studies as requested by the Commission on Cancer.
  • Monitors the compliance to cancer staging assessment.
  • Follows-up on all accessioned cases maintained in the cancer registry within 12 months of the last completed follow-up report.
  • Abstracts Medical Record Data into the Cancer Registry Data Base as required by: - Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards (FORDS) - Collaborative Staging Manual and Coding Instructions - AJCC Cancer Staging Manual - International Classification of Diseases for Oncology (ICD-O) - Data Collection of Primary Central Nervous System Tumors - Abstracting and Coding Guide for the Hematopoietic Diseases Performs Rapid/Definitive Reporting Data to the NH State Cancer Registry (NHSCR); Annual Data Reporting to the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB)
