Must be a registered nurse with a minimum of 3 years clinical/technical training & experience in Emergency Nursing. Previous managerial experience desired. Must be able to operate various types of office and medical equipment used in areas being supervised. Bachelor of Science (BS) in nursing required. Licenses, registration, and other credentials are required when applicable. BLS, ACLS, & PALS required. CEN, TNCC, ENPC desirable. Procedural sedation delineated preferred.
Functions as a department leader in assuming unit(s) responsibility for department functions and related activities in his/her designated areas. Assists in twenty-four (24) hour accountability for the overall administration and clinical direction of units by coordinating patient care delivery. Facilitates development of departmental goals and objectives that are in support of departmental/institutional philosophy and mission. Nurse practices within the legal scope of practice as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to interact on a professional level with all levels of staff. Must be flexible and able to address multiple issues simultaneously. Must be able to stay organized despite chaotic surroundings and changing priorities . Must be able to establish, monitor and maintain uniform policies and procedures in support of established goals. Must have the ability to interpret financial statistical data to assist leadership with critical and timely decision making. Basic computer knowledge/skills required.
