Currently hiring for: PT Cooks Helper, every other weekend and rotating holidays required.:

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to prepare food items in accordance with Mennonite Home Communities standards and resident preference. This position is also responsible for the food in two (2) café areas.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPECTATIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Responsible to maintain all cafe areas including, but not limited to the utilization of leftover foods, proper rotation of food and overall appearance of the most desserts
* Knowledge of basic culinary procedures; the ability to prepare food that is palatable and appetizing in appearance.
* Responsible to maintain and comply with all regulaltions of the Department of Health and Department of Public Welfare.
* Responsible to maintain all temperature logs and sanitizing sheets.
* The ability to work cooperatively with all staff.
* The ability to be flexible; good time management skills.
* Responsible to accurately prepare high quality desserts and salad items in accordance with pre-determined menu cycles; ensure time schedules are met.
* Responsible to accurately follow standardized recipes and special diet orders.
* Responsible to follow through on directions given by the cook, when appropriate.
* Responsible to assist in serving meals using proper portions and special diet items.
* Responsible for the cleaning and proper sanitation of refrigerators, ranges, ovens, appliances, utensils, salad bar and the work area.
* Responsible to date, label, and store foods properly.
* Responsible to perform related and unrelated duties as requested.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:

* Responsible to be available in case of emergency or staff shortage.
* Responsible to follow and adhere to all MHC policies and procedures including dress code.
* To give suggestions and support the management team in all changes related to the department.
* Responsible to perform related and unrelated duties as requested.
* Employee has completed annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
* Mandatory training completed as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

* A high school diploma or GED.
* 1 year experience preferred or training in preparing and cooking large quantities of food.
* The Cook’s Helper is responsible to the Cook, Operation Manager and Director of Dining Services.
