Job Description

Title:  Health Unit Coordinator
Shift:  Part-Time, Rotating
This position will be scheduled approximately 30 hours per week and will be located in the IP Behavorial Health Unit at The Christ Hospital Health Network (TCHHN) main campus located at 2139 Auburn Ave. Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.
Unit Description:  Behavioral Services, a 31-bed unit, provides a full range of services and comprehensive care to patients with behavioral health needs. Programs also include out patient services. The unit sets a high standard of excellence and quality care as it provides services  to adults and the geriatric population. The team consists of psychiatrists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, health unit coordinators, social workers , patient care assistant and occupational therapists. Services include diagnostic assessments, treatment team meetings, group and individual therapy, family meetings and working with community providers. Nurses work eight and twelve hour shifts, as well as weekend options. Staffing is based upon the needs of the individuals served. 

Job Overview:  The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) provides clerical support to the clinical team in carrying out the daily functions of patient care.  This position acts as a pivotal communication link for processing information/requests to and from patients, staff, visitors, physicians, and other departments or agencies.  The HUC initiates and ensures the data entry of patient related functions/processes, as well as the management (maintenance) of the medical record and its related forms, documents, from admission to discharge.  This position greets all visitors on the unit and assists them as needed. 

The Health Unit Coordinator may perform the following duties:

  • Interact with physicians, visitors, patients and others.
  • Inform clinical manager/staff of any issues. 
  • Computer and chart responsibilities as assigned
  • Maintain environment/supplies/equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:   High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:   Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
