ROLE OVERVIEW: In cooperation with the VP of Hospital Operations and the Patient Care Center Director, the Supervisor will function as a general supervisor, maintaining involvement in the day to day functions of the assigned locations to ensure reliable and cost effective delivery of customer services. The standard of ethical and professional performance must be consistent with established medical laboratory practice and demonstrate the philosophy of Mid America Clinical Laboratories.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimal requirements must be met to fulfill Primary Role Responsibilities. These requirements are reflected in the Experience Required and Skills Required sections as well as on the Physical Requirements and Environmental Worksheet. High school education or equivalent. Good verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; previous experience in a supervisory capacity or extensive leadership role. Prefer extensive phlebotomy experience with geriatric, pediatric and chronically ill patients. SKILLS REQUIRED: Able to interact with all areas of the laboratory; pre- analytical, analytical and post-analytical. Demonstrates extraordinary ability to communicate and service customers independently and ethically with focus on the customer. Ability to train and develop a team and help anyone in the team functioning as a resource for outpatient services. Organize to perform multiple tasks and maintain and document information on the patient both in a computer and on manual requisitions with an eye to detail. Demonstrate of advanced knowledge of phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques and theory in order to provide services appropriate to the age of the customer served. Able to be flexible with scheduling both hours and location assigned.
