Summary - Radiology Assistant/Scheduler

Provides clerical and clinical support for the department, to include scheduling of procedures and providing medical reception for assigned areas.


Job duties

·         Transports patients to and from clinical areas and verifies patient identity according to policies and procedures. Assists technologists with preparing patients for procedures

·         Assists technologists with filing, delivering and retrieving patient reports, entering data in electronic medical records, matching films to folders, and delivering reports to patient units/physicians.

·          Communicates as required to ensure scheduling process runs smoothly.

·         Performs post-procedural duties including patient discharge, room clean up and restocking supplies. Assists with inventory control.

·         Performs insurance verification and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.

·         Provides clerical support to the department as necessary.


  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year experience working in a radiology department. Preferred experience in the following areas: scheduling, file room maintenance, technical assistance, reception, insurance and referral authorizations, and phone coverage
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date.  BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.  All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)
