Under the direction of the Manager Environmental Services, this position provides coordination and supervision to the employees of the Environmental Services Department, collaborating with the leadership for Linen/Laundry Operations, and/or Floor Care services. This position is responsible for the planning, directing and administration of the workload of an Environmental Services Department, with responsibilities for daily environmental cleaning, discharge/transfer bed cleaning, supply requests, inventory management, project work assignments, waste management, infection control, furniture moving, classroom set-ups and bed management services, and/or floor care for facilities throughout the organization
In addition, the Environmental Services Supervisor will be responsible for compliance with DOT waste packaging requirements, departmental policies related to waste management and review and approval of waste manifests. The Supervisor will follow the direction of the Manager in all waste management activities.
The role of the Supervisor is to assist in achievement of organizational goals through and with the effort of others.
Nature and Scope:
With the assistance of the Manager, this position is responsible for all facets of project management, scheduling, supervising, performance evaluations, coaching and counseling, employment interviewing, educating/training, quality monitoring, timekeeping management and problem solving.
The incumbent is in a highly interactive position with nursing, clinical and other medical center staff in the daily providing of environmental services to the healthcare system. An understanding of inter-departmental concerns/problems, professional response and follow-up are essential in the providing of services to these departments.
With the assistance of the Manager, the incumbent has the authority to counsel, document disciplinary problems and take appropriate corrective action with reporting staff. Position will be responsible for the coordination of staff leave with available replacement staffing to insure complete coverage of service responsibilities to all service areas. Staffing and staffing adjustments with limited staff resources are a critical challenge to this position during demanding conditions for staffing flexibility. The incumbent may be required to change their daily work schedule to meet the supervisory needs of the department.
The incumbent must possess a basic knowledge of all positions for which he/she is responsible. The incumbent must possess ability to evaluate internal and external customer service priorities and communicate in a professional and courteous manner with all internal and external customers. The incumbent must exhibit polite, positive behavior while dealing with customers of all ages, social, cultural and economic backgrounds. Incumbent must demonstrate the desire to promote a safe and secure work environment.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.
Two (2) years experience in Environmental or Hospitality/Guest Relations or Services is preferred. Progressive leadership experience in a customer service environment is required.
ASHES/IEHA/CHEST Certification is preferred. DOT Training, RCRA and Hazardous Waste Operator First responder Training required within first 90 days of employment, and each year thereafter.
Computer / Typing:
Must be able to become proficient, within 6 months, with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
