Is responsible and accountable for assisting the director with coordinating and directing day to day activities in the unit to insure adequate staffing and the delivery of quality, cost-effective care. Continually assess staff educational needs, then plans, coordinates, and directs educational activities in the units; participates in continuous quality improvement; communicates effectively with physicians, employees and other department’s personnel. The manager is able to fulfill the RN job requirements for L&D and Antenatal, as well as serve as a clinical resource person and a role model for staff members.
Preferred / Desired
At least one year of nursing experience in maternal/child or critical care preferred.
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
NRP within 6 months from date of hire ACLS within 6 months from date of hire Fetal Heart Monitoring Education Completion of the designated intermediate fetal heart monitoring education program by 6 months of hire for an RN with previous fetal heart monitoring experience and by one (1) year of hire of an RN with no fetal heart monitoring experience into a labor & delivery role.
Current RN license to practice in the State of Louisiana. A Perinatal Certification by any nationally recognized certification organization is recommended. BLS Certification
