Graduation from an approved education program, with current Michigan license and certification in A.C.L.S.; attain A.T.L.S. and P.A.L.S. as courses are available.
Up to date knowledge of medical diagnosis and treatment of common problems seen in an Emergency Department and/or Rural Health Clinic. Medical history and physical exam skills. Knowledge of general medical diagnosis and treatment of problems common to general medical practice preferred. Familiarity with referral resources and medical staff of the hospital. Familiarity with medical staff and hospital policies and procedures.
Responsible to sponsoring medical staff member(s) for medical practice and Hospital administrator or administrator’s designee for hospital contract and policy and procedure requirements.
Worker’s supervised – none.
Interrelationships with medical staff, nursing staff, patient access staff, medical records staff, laboratory staff, radiology staff, Eden Center staff, staff of other hospital or hospital-related areas in which the Midlevel may serve, and, most importantly, with the public.
Provides medical services in the Emergency Department as authorized and supervised by members of the medical staff.
Performs routine histories and physical exams.
Provides other physician extension services.

Demonstrates ability to establish effective working relationships with other members of the hospital staff.
Attends the Emergency Services Planning and Improvement Committee (PIC) meetings.
Maintains confidentiality of patient information and works in accordance with HIPAA and patient rights guidelines.
Maintains up to date knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
Utilizes PEPID and other evidence-based protocols as directed.
