Job Description

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS The incumbent supervises and participates in an institutional supply and inventory control program. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher ranking administrative employee. Supervision is exercised over a number of technical and clerical employees for assignments and review of work for conformance with procedure. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Supervises a program covering such supplies as clothing, housekeeping equipment, nursing equipment and supplies, etc.; Supervises workers engaged in receiving, storing, issuing, delivery, inventory control and records maintenance; Plans the work of the section; trains workers in procedures; assigns duties, inspects work performance, maintains work coverage; Confers with division heads on ordering and supply utilization; prepares requisitions for re-stocking and ordering; Maintains supply records and controls; takes periodic physical inventories and makes regular inspection of storage facilities; Confers with department head on supply problems, status and progress of program and recomendations for improvement. FULL PEFORRMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of methods of receiving, storing, issuing and maintaining supplies and equipment; thorough knowledge of methods of taking inventory and maintaining stock records and controls; good knowledge of procedures of large- scale ordering of a number of commodities; good knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; good knowledge of account keeping methods; ability to operate a large store roan; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to maintain detailed records and prepare reports; ability to get along well with others; initiative and resourcefulness; industry and dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICPf''IONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five (5) years of experience in the ordering, receiving and storage of supplies and equipment.
