  • JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
    • Reports to:
      • Radiology Director and Lead Ultrasound Technologist
    • Job Summary:
      • Performs high-quality ultrasound services at the hospital.  Displays expertise in ultrasound techniques and practices, trains students and new technologists, supports our ultrasound accreditation, and serves as an advocate to all providers, patients, and other staff members involved in ultrasound studies for our community.
    • Education:
      • High school diploma or equivalent with completion of an Ultrasound program from an accredited institution.
    • Registration/Certification/Licensure:
      • ARDMS or ARRT
    • Experience:
      • 1 year previous ultrasound experience a plus; new graduates with strong clinical background highly considered.
    • Other Requirements:
      • Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
      • CPR required within 30 days of hire date.
      • Effectively communicates with all patient populations and staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.
      • Effectively advocates for quality patient safety and satisfaction.

  • TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
    • Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Performs patient examinations according to the imaging protocols developed under the direction of the Medical Director and the ACR accreditation guidelines.
      • Produces high-quality, diagnostic ultrasound images, completes documentation, and archives all elements as necessary to support the Radiologists and ensure patient safety.
      • Logs and documents compliant use of the Trophon system for ultrasound probe cleaning.
      • Participates in the Ultrasound schedule; daily, call, and holidays.
      • Works collaboratively with the Radiology scheduler to ensure minimal patient wait times when scheduling Out Patients.
      • Shows comprehension of Ultrasound unit functions and ability to communicate with the network for transmitting and archiving images.
      • Performs duties according to established standards for all patient populations to include Fall Risk patients.
      • Serves as a mentor to newly hired sonographers.
      • Assists Ultrasound students in clinical education rotations.
