Healthcare Summer Intern
Full Time Temporary – 8 Weeks

Reports to: Internship Coordinator – Ashley Jenkins

Unofficial college transcript that shows your name, major, and classification

  • 1 page introductory essay to include a brief autobiography about yourself as well as a description of your academic and career goals

    Eligibility Criteria:

    Applicant must be classified as a Junior or Senior at the college level

  • Applicant must be actively enrolled in a direct patient care program to include but not limited to: Pre-Med, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, PTA, OTA, and Respiratory Therapy. Nursing students are encouraged to apply for the Nursing Extern program.

  • Selected interns must be able to report for work beginning on Monday 06/03/2019. Only those who receive an offer of employment should report to MRHC that day. The program will conclude on Friday, 07/26/2019.   

  • Full participation is expected in all activities listed in the job summary below.

    Job Summary:

    Summer Intern will work closely with the Internship Coordinator and the designated interning department for a total of 8 weeks.

  • Internship will include: in-depth observation hours alongside staff of the same discipline as intern’s college major, classroom learning, research, team building exercises, and participation in a community service project.

  • The Employee must Maintain Patient Confidentiality, Communicate MRHC's Mission, Vision, andValues and represent the Organization in a Positive and Professional Manner.

  • The employee must adhere to the LEAN Principles, Standards of Behavior and the Organizational Policies and Procedures of MRHC.

  • The employee must adhere to the Corporate Compliance program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and report to a designated manager (or employee hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices. The employee must attend all mandatory staff meetings. 

    Educational Requirements

    High School Diploma or GED Health Required

  • Must be actively completing a direct patient care career at the college level. Proof is required in the form of an unofficial transcript.

    Language Requirements
    English Required. Multi-Lingual capabilities enhance the ability to perform this job. Must have the ability to speak effectively and professionally to all staff, management, and all outside individuals at all levels from elementary to professional.

    Title and Definition

    Skill in computing ratios, rates and percentages.

  • Skill in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals without a calculator.

  • Must have the ability to apply non-judgmental reasoning capabilities whenever necessary when dealing with patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Critical thinking and multitasking skills a must.

  • Must have reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do.

  • Must possess purposeful, self-regulatory judgment which results in interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference, as well as explanation of the evidential, conceptual, methodological, criteriological, or contextual considerations upon which that judgment is based.
