Deaconess Gateway Hospital is seeking a Department Manager to lead the Neuro ICU and Neuro Medical departments.
This position manages the administrative, fiscal, human resources, and patient care aspects of designated areas. Assumes 24-hour accountability as appropriate to service line. Contributes to and supports the hospital’s mission, strategic goals and policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of and integrates the use of evidence-based outcomes for nursing practice. Integrates principles of growth and development in directing/providing care appropriate to the ages served.
Employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies and meet/exceed standards. The Department Manager I and II is based upon number of FTEs, revenue producing services, number of departments managed.
In addition, the Department Manager of Nursing maintains clinical expertise to provide direct patient care. As such, this position also follows the staff nurse role as outlined in the RN Staff Nurse Job Description.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
Required to maintain competency and continuing education in area of specialization and in professional practice.
Five years hospital clinical nursing experience recommended.
One year of nursing management experience preferred.
Demonstrates leadership, creativity and management skills.
Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact in a professional manner with customers.
