Job Description

Title: Food Service Associate II (Diet Clerk, Ambassador, Cashier)
 
Shift: Part-Time, Days
 
Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday rotation.
 
This position will be scheduled 20 hours per week in the Food & Nutrition Services department at the Christ Hospital main campus located at 2139 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.
 
Job Overview: Responsible for performing entry level job functions relative to patient meal service, cafeteria, catering, food preparation, and sanitation.
 
The Food Service Associate II may perform the following duties:

  • Obtain meal orders from patients and visitors via telephone or in person. Instruct patients on meal ordering system. Assist patients and family members in placing meal order.
  • Enters meal orders into the Health Touch diet office management system for menu processing. Verifies patient’s meal order meets diet order parameters and offers compatible suggestions to make the order compliant.  Documents required information efficiently and consistently.
  • Operates cash register with speed and accuracy. Creates goodwill for the department by greeting customers and identifying self when appropriate; recognizing the individual, making eye contact and showing an interest in helping; maintaining appropriate professional appearance that will allow work behind the cafeteria line as well as at the register; anticipating customer needs; communicating in a positive, prompt, helpful and courteous manner.  Maintains a good knowledge of menu item ingredients and prices.
  • Takes cash register readings at all appropriate times during the shift.  Fills out cashier reports accurately and on time.  Properly marks voids. Turns in voids, coupons and meal tickets to Team Lead or Manager daily. Counts cash drawer before and after each shift.  Counts cash receipts accurately; records on daily cash sales report. Turns in cash reports to supervisor daily.
  • Attends meeting as required to enhance knowledge, job skills, and communications within the department.  Follows acceptable practices related to:  safety, sanitation, infection control, quality control, and customer relations.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or needed.  May assist in other areas as relief.

 
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
 
Experience:  2 years of customer and food service experience.
 
Required Skills and Knowledge:  Related foodservice knowledge and skills. Customer service skills. Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
 
Internal Career Path: 1 year experience as Food Service Associate 1.  Must be able to perform and meet competencies for tray line, sanitation and retail positions.  Documented 80 hours Health Touch training. Document 40 hours of case handling training. Documented 40 hours customer service training.
