UNIT DESCRIPTION The NICU/Neonatal Transport Service provides care and treatment for high-risk neonates. Evaluation and treatment begins at the referring facility and is continued during the neonate’s hospital stay. Care in the NICU is provided until the patient is discharged home or transferred to another facility. Children’s Neonatal Service is an extension of services provided by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital. UNIT DESCRIPTION Our Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, fully staffed with pediatric emergency medicine specialists and nursing personnel. Our team of emergency physicians and nurses provide specialized care to patients from birth up to 21 years of age with varying levels of illness from minor to critical.  The Emergency Department is staffed with registered nurses, paramedics, technicians and health unit coordinators.  We see approx 70,000 patients a year, averaging 200 patients each day.           BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB An employee who performs tasks which involve specific nursing care for patients delegated by and performed under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education High School/GED Required Minimum Work Experience 6 months experience or training required. Nursing assistant, orderly or EMT experience preferred. Required Licenses/Certifications for position BLS required. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Demonstrates effective communication and service excellence skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Heavy lifting, pushing and pulling is required up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20-30 lbs frequently and 10 lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs.
