POSITION SUMMARY Medical Laboratory Scientists and Medical Technologists (MLS/MT) are highly trained and dedicated health professionals who provide reliable laboratory test results used in prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. The MLS/MT collect blood samples, perform laboratory tests, verify and submit test results in a timely manner. The MLS/MT lead the Laboratory Team toward the achievement of the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center. Must maintain CE requirements for ASCP to use the title of Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).   POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree on Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science from an approved college or university. For COLA - Must provide a copy of the highest diploma or degree attained. License/Certificates: ASCP certification within one year of hire. Utilize the AIDET model of customer service, to interact with patients calmly and pleasantly. Communicate with providers, Lab Manager, or Lab Coordinator regarding any patient concerns. Responsible for calling critical results within 30 minutes per protocol. Identify abnormal results, reference, linear, and critical ranges. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation and analyzers. May be assigned rotations in Microbiology, in addition to core Lab sections. May be assigned to lead specific Lab sections and or PI Teams. Act as Lab liaison for Providers, Nurses, and other Healthcare professionals. Perform daily, weekly, and periodic QC calibration, and method verification as needed. Complies with all COLA, CLIA, JC, AABB, HIPAA, CMS, and OSHA regulations and all CRMC policies and procedures. Maintain and retain complete and accurate records per protocol. Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, taking messages and faxing/photocopying. Assist Phlebotomists, Secretaries, and other healthcare team members as needs arise. Assist patients in way-finding and understanding. Perform light housekeeping duties as needed. POSITION SUMMARY The Same Day Surgery/PACU nurse is responsible for the surgical, pre-operative and post-operative anesthesia care of all surgical patients. The SDS/PACU nurse will perform both direct and indirect nursing care throughout the surgical department consistent with AORN standards in accordance with the nursing process. The SDS/PACU nurse will perform both direct and indirect nursing care throughout the patient's surgical experience efficiently providing continuity, safety, and cost containment. The primarily focus of this position would involve recovery of all patients in phases 1 and 2. Other duties will include, but are not limited to, admissions and discharges of all patients and performing and/or assisting on procedures within the outpatient setting. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation and analyzers. May be assigned to Microbiology in addition to MLT core lab sections. Perform daily, weekly, and periodic QC, calibration, and method verification as needed. Complies with all COLA, CLIA, JC, AABB, HIPAA, CMS and OSHA regulations and CRMC policies and procedures. Maintain and retain complete and accurate records per protocol. Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, taking messages, faxing/photocopying. Assist Phlebotomists, Secretaries, and other healthcare team members as needs arise. Assist patients in way-finding and understanding.  Perform light housekeeping duties as needed.  Maintain a safe, neat, and well stocked work area. Demonstrate a Can-Do Spirit when other duties are assigned.
