POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Graduate of a nurse anesthesia education program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor. License/Certificates: RN License to practice in the State of Minnesota and complies with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing. Complies with one of the following requirements regarding certification eligibility, initial certification or recertification: Meets criteria of Education and Certificates as stated above, and is waiting initial certification; or Is currently certified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor; or Is currently recertified by the AANA Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists. POSITION SUMMARY Under the supervision of Perioperative RN, the Surgical Technologists participates as a member of the surgical team supporting and taking direction from the Surgeon, Physician Assistants and Perioperative RN. The Technologist is responsible for draping the surgical suite in accordance with AORN, AST and associated standards; ensures the functionality of instrumentation and equipment required for each operative procedure. Surgical Technologist shall assist in preparing patients for surgery including transport, positioning, disinfecting and draping the surgical site under the direction of the Perioperative RN.   Interoperatively the Technologist effectively hands instruments, needles, sponges and equipment, anticipating the surgeon(s) needs and ensuring patient safety and sterile technique at all times. They may be required to provide direct and indirect perioperative tasks, including holding retractors, cameras, suction under the direct supervision of the Surgeon. The ability to effectively perform these tasks for long periods of time without break is probable.   In addition, the Surgical Technologist shall assist in the decontamination of instruments and equipment, room turnover, sterilization, flashing of instrumentation and restocking of supplies in accordance with AORN and departmental policy. Finally this position reports to the Director, delegated additional duties and project work ensure the successful completion of departmental goals and objectives shall be expected. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Diploma from an accredited Surgical Technologist Program; or 2+ years of surgical scrub experience coupled with related clinical training (i.e. LPN, Military). CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or associated professional certification preferred. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Follow established policies and procedures of Longville Lakes Clinic and CRMC Environmental Service Department. Responsible to provide a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. Cleans, disinfects, dusts, and vacuums all necessary rooms and fixtures within the facility to maintain a clean environment. This includes walls, ceilings, windows, sinks, toilets, exam tables, mirrors, telephones, in all rooms, hallways, etc. Operates vacuums, or other pieces of equipment as necessary to complete tasks. Replenishes supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc.) as needed. Empty trash and transport to the dumpsters. Required to follow safe work practices and to utilize personal protective equipment appropriate for the tasks they are performing. Follow all safety rules and complies with all State and Federal requirements. Maintains open communication with other departments, in order to provide quality service for the patients/visitors, and co-workers. Respects patient confidentiality and understands there is not job related reason to access patient information. Perform a Can-Do Spirit when other duties are assigned.
